4th Annual Images In Advertising Awards
Commercial Closet Association has announced the nominees for the 4th annual Images In Advertising Awards, recognizing companies that best demonstrated inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals (GLBT) in mainstream advertising campaigns that appeared in 2007. The award winners will be announced during a ceremony on July 28 at New World Stages in New York City.

Protect and Defend International Police, Firefighter & Military Weekend
It is known as 'Party In The Desert', or PID, hosted by Protect and Defend in California. Each summer, Protect and Defend hosts this fun filled social weekend of its members, friends and loved ones from all over the world. This summer, during the weekend of July 25-27 cops, firefighters, public safety employees and military from over 18 states will be meeting in Palm Springs California for the largest venue of its kind.

Nearly One in Four Gay and Lesbian Adults Lack Health Insurance
According to a recent national survey conducted by Harris Interactive®, nearly one in four gay and lesbian adults lack health insurance and are nearly twice as likely as their heterosexual counterparts to have no health insurance coverage. When asked, 22 percent of gay and lesbian survey respondents reported having no health insurance, compared to only 12 percent of heterosexual adults in the survey.

Former Asst. Secretary of Defense Urges Congress to Allow Gays to Serve Openly
Lawrence J. Korb, former Assistant Secretary of Defense under President Ronald Reagan, urged Congress last week to repeal the 'Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell' law banning lesbian, gay and bisexual personnel from serving openly in the military. His remarks came before a joint hearing of the House Armed Services Air and Land Forces Subcommittee and the House Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee.
